Fiji is a perfect place for honeymoon! Relaxing with your partner in one of the remote islands in Fiji is extremely romantic. It is also a good place to escape from busy life, as the beautiful ocean view and relaxing atmosphere will take away all of your anxiety as well as unhappiness.
Some background of Fiji: Located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is a country comprising 333 islands. The biggest two islands (named as Viti Levu and Vanau Levu) are often referred as ‘the mainland’. Fiji is conveniently accessible from New Zealand and Australia.
My friend and I stayed two nights at Beachcomber Island Resort and one night at Anchorage Beach Resort (in the mainland). The choice of staying in the island or the mainland will bring you totally different experience! I had a really fun and enjoyable time in Fiji, especially in the Beachcomber Island. I would definitely visit Fiji again (to different small islands).
**** A blur trip…!! ****
We have totally forgotten to exchange Fiji currency until the night before our flight to Fiji. Luckily my friend remembers about this matter in the last-minute, else we have no money to spend in Fiji. >.<
We also forgot to check if we should apply for visitor visa. We were so brave to enter other territory without checking the visa requirement! We were very glad that visa is not required for Malaysia citizen. It would be very sad if we are not allowed to enter Fiji after so much preparation.
**** Bula!! We are in Fiji now!! ****
It took 4 hours flight from Wellington to Fiji. We reached Nadi Airport, Fiji in the afternoon. The temperature is quite warm here (about 25 to 27 degree Celsius).
The local people welcome us with music and songs when we reached the airport. It is relaxing. We have a feeling that we are in the ‘honeymoon’ although we are not a real couple (not lesbian). We say “Bula!” to the locals which mean “Hello!” in Fijian words.
It took about 20 minutes taxi plus 45 minutes boat to Beachcomber Island from the airport.
After some time, I realize the colour of the water has become different from what we saw in the beginning:
Finally we reached Beachcomber Island. We are surprised with the crystal clear water and the amazing view! It looks like a paradise. It is much more beautiful than I expected. We are very excited!
Our accommodation in Beachcomber Island Resort – it is simple but I like that it is facing ocean with beach chairs:
Exploring the Beachcomber Island – it is a very small island:
This hermit crab lost its house because of me… I was trying to bring the crab to a safe place but I didn’t realize the seashell has drop, and it climbs to a plant. I am very guilty :’(
Start to rain… and rainbow coming out! I like the view when the boat and the sand are gold colour.
The sky is turning dark and we watch the sunset together, it is very romantic 🙂
Lonely view of my back:
Dinner with my ‘honey’, and we took selfie together:
Looking at the moon at night:
Two DRUNKARDS!! Mixing many type of liquors together:
We realize that there are no other Asian people. My friend’s analysis is that most of the Asian people prefer to stay in the mainland. BUT, we are the exception!! Hahaha. We like the stay in the small islands very much. Well, it depends on what kind of travel style that you enjoy. Staying in either one of them has pros and cons.
In the mainland, you can easily find a high star rating resorts at a very good price. It is also convenient for shopping, finding a nice restaurant and so on, but you might be disappointed on the scenery view. On the other hand, the quality of the resorts in small islands is usually crappy, the wi-fi working intermittently, and lack of choices of food. Nevertheless, you will definitely in love with the stunning view and want to come back again!!
