Today is an adventurous day. I did a one-hour guided horse trek with my friend at Wainuiomata Coast Road. I am happy as this is the first time I ride a horse, and it is much more exciting than I thought! I am glad that I have tried it.

According to the forecast, the weather is supposed to be sunny. But it starts to rain while we are waiting for the horses, so we need to change to a warmer jacket.

Once I sit on the horse, the horse kept moving around and eating grass. Other horses are waiting quietly for the instruction, but my horse eats non-stop. It is a greedy boy!

When everyone is ready, we began the trek. I found it very hard to control the horse. I am very nervous till my leg kept squeezing the horse! The horse is trotting most of the times, and when it get distracted it eats grass again. It never stop eating.

My handsome horse

We go up to the hill. It is very steep, as it looks like it has almost 45 degree slope! This makes me feel scared because I am very afraid of height. Furthermore, the horse is trotting up the hill which makes me feel insecure. I am worried that the horse will fall though I know it is unlikely to happen.

In the half way of going uphill, I heard someone screaming. So I turned my head, and my heart was almost down, because I saw my friend falls off the horse! I was very worried. Luckily she get up with a smile, my heart was then relieved. She falls off the horse because the horse was trotting too fast and then it stopped suddenly.

The view of the scenery is very nice on the top of the hill, but I do not have the mood to enjoy the view because I am scared! I don’t even take out my camera to take photos, as I put all my attention in riding the horse safely.

Me and my friend – and my horse is still eating. Why can’t it stop eating? =.=

Finally we are back to the starting point safely, phew…!! It is such an adventurous experience for me! My friend has few horse riding experiences, and she said this is the scariest experience because of the very steep hill (at Wainuiomata) and the horses are not very well trained.

Nevertheless, I think it is a very fun experience. I actually love the moment when the horse is trotting with some speed (not too fast) as it makes me excited, though I feel nervous at the same time. Unfortunately the price of getting a horse riding lesson is not cheap, else I would like to learn to be a professional horse rider! I miss riding now and I will definitely do it again. 🙂
