My Small Stories in New Zealand

Pub Crawl @ Wellington

I went for a pub crawl with my colleagues on Friday night.

It was a good experience for me. I am not a ‘pub person’ so it is a new thing for me. There are six of us, and we have drinks in five places.

Here is our itinerary:
Start @ my office
Stop 2 (around 5.15-5.30): Foxtail (inside Foxglove, 33 Queen’s Wharf)
Stop 3: Hashigo Zake, 25 Taranaki St
Stop 4: Library Bar, Level 1/53 Courtenay Place
Stop 5: Little Beer Quarter, 6 Edward St

It is a shame that I just knew my office sells alcohol! (not every day, only on some Friday nights) I thought that no alcohol is allowed in my office for some reasons. Apparently Kiwis love drinking and it is a good way to socialize for them.

I have drink 2 glasses of wines, 5 glasses of shots, and a few glasses of cocktails (shared)

My colleagues are very drunk. I left the bar early at 1am+ and they are still drinking. I decided to drive back home.

I do not feel drunk, but I was extremely worried that I will be stopped by a police and asked to take the alcohol test. I know that New Zealand is a very strict country and have very low tolerance against the drinking limit. If I couldn’t pass the alcohol test, it will become a serious offence! I had a supper (Roast Duck with noodles) and hopefully it will take away my alcohol smell.

Also, walking alone in dark night at 2am is scary. My car is 30 minutes walking distance from the pub.

I stayed at McDonald until 3am++. I was too worried to be stopped by a police car!

It is lucky that I got back home safely. I promised myself that I won’t do this again. I will not drive after so many drinks and walk alone in dark night again. 🙂
