A short KL Trip to visit KLCC, relatives and friends

The view from Skybar @ Traders Hotel

After our wedding in Singapore and honeymoon in Bintan, we visited KL (Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia) before flying back to New Zealand. Although KL is my home, we want to stay in a hotel because it feels like another small honeymoon for us. ☺ We stayed for 3 nights at Traders Hotel.

Taking a GrabCar is the cheapest and easiest way to get from/to KL airport – only RM65 (excluding toll charges) which is even cheaper than UBER. By the way, we had some fun because our GrabCar driver was an interesting guy who told us many many stories.

The biggest advantage of staying at Traders Hotel is that it is connected to KLCC via the tunnel so we do not have to go outside – this is really good because KL weather is so hot. Therefore, we went to KLCC every day during our stay in KL.

Visiting relatives and friends

This is a super busy trip for us because we have done many things during the trip.

We met my relatives – both my father side and mother side. All of them had never met Ben before, so this is a good chance to introduce Ben to them.

We also accompany my mum to do physio in a medical centre. She always has a problem on her knee and I am pleased to see my mum is exercising hard to overcome it!

We also met some of my closest friends from secondary school. In a blink of an eye, 16 years have passed (omg I feel old) and now I am already a wife. They told me “didn’t expect you are the earliest to get married amongst us”. Well, I guess maybe I don’t look like the type who wants to settle down? But, the perception will change as time passes and so people will change, too.

Ben also met his friend in KL. We had a dinner at Madam Kwan in KLCC and then had a drink at Skybar. I highly recommend Skybar as I think it has one of the best views in KL!

The saddest thing about this trip is knowing a very close friend of mine has lost her mother. I can feel her pain and so wish I can be at her side.

Lounge in the airport

Ben recently became a gold member of the Qantas frequent flyer programme. One of the benefits is that he can access to any One World lounge in the airport and can also bring one person. He is super excited about this and would wake up early to go to the airport so he can use the lounge (like a kid 😂).

Hopefully, after this, I will have more chance to come to KL to visit family and friends. Who knows?
