The Weta Cave is the small shop and mini museum for the very famous movies: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It is located in Miramar in Wellington which is close to the Wellington airport. It is free to enter the shop and the mini museum, but the Weta Cave Workshop tour cost NZD$25 per person (adult price).
There are many tourists at Weta Cave today, and most of them follow the tourist bus. Well, Weta Cave is quite a famous place in Wellington! It is a shame that I have not visited this place since I am living in Wellington for more than 3 years.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit (please don’t beat me). But I am worried that people will laugh at me if I know nothing about it! So it is a good idea for me to visit Weta Cave.
We watched a short video in the mini theatre. It is free to watch but please remember that you have to take the token at the counter first. It is a 10-15 minutes video that introduces the Weta Cave and the producers. I didn’t realise that Weta Cave have also designed for Avatar movie until I watched the video. I love Avatar. I watched this movie at least twice in the cinema. I still prefer romantic movies!!

It is a very good idea to buy souvenirs from the shop if you are traveling here.
This shop is actually really cool. It sells weapons!! These weapons are not cheap – costs between NZD$200 and NZD$600.

Overall, Weta Cave is a very small attraction in Wellington. It takes us less than an hour in this place (partly because we are not interested and we do not join the workshop tour). If you are a big fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, it is actually a cool place to visit.
