We are very unlucky, as we met a ‘One in a hundred years storm’ at Whakatane! The White Island tour was cancelled again today. It is sunny in the morning but the sea is very rough and choppy as there was a heavy rain last night, it is impossible to visit White Island since we need to take a boat from Whakatane to White Island.
The availability of the White Island tour is very weather dependant. We are only able to know if the tour will be cancelled on the night before our tour. If you are going to the White Island, I strongly suggest keeping your timetable flexible and prepare to stay for extra few nights in the event of bad weather.
Since the White Island tour is cancelled, we go to Ohope Beach in Whakatane. Ohope Beach is awarded as 2013 New Zealand most beautiful beach!

We are quite disappointed looking at the beach – what is so special about this beach?
My friend is very upset that we are unable to visit White Island. She is leaving New Zealand in the end of this month so she may not have the chance to visit it. She kept on forcing me to get married in next year, so that she has an excuse to visit New Zealand next year (to attend my wedding + visit White Island at the same time). =.= I showed her a sweat face. This is something beyond my control!
Since we have more free time now, we are going to Redwood Forest at Rotorua.
