Winter = Depression?

winter-dark

It is in the middle of winter in New Zealand. It gets very dark at 5pm++!

Many people do not like winter, but surprisingly, I like winter. Perhaps because it is summer in my home country (Malaysia) all the times, so I really appreciate the cold.

I admit that the winter does make people feeling depressed easily. There were a few times the tears fill my eyes when I was walking back to the car park from my office. It is easy to be emotional when it is dark, especially when you are alone.

But, there are too many good things in winter – for example, I like jogging in the winter (less sweat!), I like eating hot noodles in the winter (ultimate happiness!), I like sleeping with my thick duvet on my comfortable bed (do not want to get out of bed!), and I like winter clothessss! 😛

I am excited about winter. The sky is beautiful at night. On the last few days there was strong aurora appearing in South Island again. Many people have posted amazing photos on Facebook! A friend of mine in Christchurch sent me more than 10 photos, each of them are amazing and I was so jealous… I really hope I can see the aurora too, but I missed it out again this time. Well, perhaps it’s not a bad thing so that I have something that I really look forward in my life (although I already have many things to look forward to 😛 ), as it is one of my ultimate dreams. Hmm when I see the aurora I will secretly make a wish.

My colleagues asked me for a drink at Foxtail, and I immediately recalled back of the time in last week. Less than a week ago, I promised myself not to drive again after drinking much alcohol (at least not that soon?) and not to walk alone in dark night. I have chosen to write a blog post on this Friday night instead of going to pub! I am a homebody isn’t it?

Winter… Two more months to go. I will appreciate these two months. 🙂
