Our Life in Australia

Stage 4

Yesterday was a depressing day for everyone in Melbourne.

The state of Victoria has declared a state of disaster due to a spike in the COVID-19 cases. Over the last few weeks, there were a few hundred cases per day. As a result, the government has imposed Stage 4 restrictions, such as:

  • A curfew is put in place from 8pm to 5am so we cannot go out during this time
  • Only can shop and exercise within 5km
  • Only one person can leave home to shop once per day

This is tough for us because we are used to shopping together (so we can buy a lot of thing at once). We are also lack of grocery shopping choices around our area, especially Asian groceries.

I feel gutted because everything was going well just a month ago, and suddenly it is out of control. If Stage 3 was done right at the beginning, maybe we do not need to be in Stage 4?

Because of this, Ben and I had to re-arrange our works. Anyway, we are grateful to have a car and able to work from home – that makes our life easier.

We are getting through it!
