Paihia is the main town in Bay of Islands, located in the far north of New Zealand. It is popular with water sport activities such as sailing, kayaking and jet skiing. I stayed at Paihia for two nights.
I took the bus departing from Wellington to Bay of Islands which spent about 15 hours! It is really tiring and I can hardly feel my butt >.< But it is worthwhile because the bus ticket costs only $1. By the way, the FIRST bus ticket sold in NakedBus and Intercity always cost $1 (not including booking fee), so it is very economical if book early. Another option is to take flight which costs about $100++ to a non-city place.
The scenery along the bus journey is nice:
Usually I stay in a shared dorm if I am travelling alone, but this time I am staying in a private single room which is kind of a luxury for me!! This is because I received an unexpected work request, I need to carry important laptop during my trip. Anyway I really enjoy my stay here. The accommodation is very nice, clean and comfortable, and most importantly there is a desk and free wi-fi for me to work.
At Casa Bella Motel
It is a sunny day. Unfortunately I cannot do any water sports because it is not a convenient day for me. I walked along the beach. I used to think that it is weird to walk alone on the beach, as it seems very lonely. Surprisingly I didn’t feeling bored and had a good time by myself here. It is a relaxing walk for me as I can walk at my own pace.
Broken stair – who is that heavy? XP
I love blue and green 🙂
This ship is a restaurant!! I like this concept.
There are not many people swimming in the sea, because the water is freezing cold! The day was sunny yet the temperature is quite low because it is approaching winter. But there are some ‘brave’ people…
I love to see family enjoying in the beach, as I think this is very warm and sweet,
or a couple walking on the beach, I think this is one of the most romantic thing to do,
Or better still, hug each other in the sea… extremely romantic!

Finally I am hungry and sit down having a meal… I cannot walk any further if I do not eat something. Eating meal with such a lovely view is very relaxing!
Overall I am quite happy with my trip in Bay of Islands. I love beach. Although I didn’t do any activities specifically, I feel comfortable and relaxed here. For me, travelling is not about visiting the most famous attractions or doing popular activities, instead it should be doing anything that you really enjoy at your own pace.
