My First Blog Post

Finally my blog has been created.

I wanted to write a blog in the internet since more than a year ago. I want to share my stories and feelings that I have felt along my journey of life. But I was too lazy to start!

At first I couldn’t decide the language used for my blog, i.e. whether it should be in English or Chinese. Language is always my weakness. I am not expert in English, and I am not good in Chinese either (although my ethnicity is Chinese). I am not talented in writing and I always got a very low mark for my language exam >.<

Nevertheless, I have a habit of writing down my feelings. Sometimes I write poems as well (mostly in Chinese words). I feel much better after expressing my thoughts and feelings in words. For me, the purpose of language is purely for communication and expression. It would be good enough if people understand what I am trying to describe/express from my words.

I will be very grateful if people read and like my words. This is one of the reasons that I have started this blog. Also, I want to jot down the memories and feeling that I have had during my trips, because I know most of them will be lost when time pass by.

Another reason to share the blog in the internet is that one of my dreams is to travel around the world (especially to Europe), so perhaps I am able to find a travel mate here. Well, who knows? 🙂

Since this is officially the first blog that I am going to post, let me briefly introduce myself 🙂

I am a very introvert person; I am not talkative, but I will be extremely close with the friends who I know well. I like to travel, even if it is just a short trip. I like to explore a new place and ‘feel’ it. My dream is to leave my footprint in all around the world, then, I will find out the most preferred place and live there peacefully with important person forever. So, this blog will describes every place that I have been, as a reference for my future.

About my background, I was born in Malaysia. I used to stayed with my family and I worked in Kuala Lumpur for years. One day I decided to leave my home, quit my job and join the Working Holiday scheme in New Zealand. It was at my age 24. Then, my entire life changed. I found a permanent job in Wellington, since then I live in New Zealand by myself.

Before I came to New Zealand, I was an obedient girl who was carefully protected by my family and friends. I did not step outside to the world until age 24. It was like a ‘turning point’ of my life; if I never made that decision, my life would be completely different.

Then, I learn to be an independent person. I tried many different things that I never experienced in my native country. My lifestyle change dramatically. Till now, I can feel the excitement when I first came to New Zealand. This is completely a new life for me! It is the passionate and enthusiasm that matter the most.

I named my blog ‘Opposite Journey’, as my journey of life has become totally opposite to what it was supposed to be. I was diverted from the road well paved for me, heading to another direction of journey. Though I have now settled down in Wellington, I am planning for more trips and travel to different parts of the world which keep me excited.

Well, it is a good idea to step out of your comfort zone and create different experience in life, so you will have no regrets 🙂

This is not a professional blog, as it does not has fancy wordings and extraordinary photos. It is a blog to express the feeling for my trips in a ‘layman’ way. It is to share my little experience that hopefully might help anyone who read it. It is a blog to keep me passionate.

Hi…I like reading your blog. It is very inspiring especially to me who is a little bit anxious about my future life in NZ holding same visa when you first went to NZ. I wish to hear more stories about your journey looking for a permanent job because I desire to live in NZ permanenty or as long as I want but not after 1 yr when WHV expires. Please send me an email if you have time to ariel_ampado@yahoo.com. Thank you. GBU
