Wisteria Arbour at Alowyn Garden

It is spring, the perfect time to see flowers. We originally thought about visiting the Tesselaar Tulip Festival but it is a bit far. Instead, we decided to go to Alowyn Garden in Yarra Valley for its blooming wisteria arbour and it is only about an hour’s drive away.

When I first saw a video of wisteria in bloom online, I was mesmerised by the romantic beauty of its purple, hanging flower clusters. I managed to convince Ben to come with me despite his busy schedule, as the window to see it is very short since it only blooms from late September to early October.

Ben thought it was just so-so, but I found it quite nice. I think his expectations were a bit too high! But to be honest, it does look better in the photos on the official website, yet I’m already satisfied.

This is our second time visiting Alowyn Garden. The entrance fee is $30 for two people. It’s fairly crowded due to the blooming wisteria, though there’s not much else to see at the moment. While the garden features a range of plants designed to attract visitors year-round, not many were in bloom during our visit.

After that, we visited Yarra Valley Chocolaterie which is only 2 minute drive from Alowyn Garden. Ben ate a big ice cream and we bought a lot of chocolates. 😋 We also went to Eastland Shopping Centre which is not too far away.

We ate a lot during this short trip. I find it quite tiring to drive, but it felt nice to go out for a change of scenery since we have been getting a bit lazy staying at home lately. I hope to explore more with Ben, even if it is just nearby 🙂
