Tokyo – fun Yukata experience @ Day 3

Sometimes I see Japanese women wearing Yukata walking on the street – Yukata is the traditional Japanese woman wear. It looks beautiful and I wish to have one too!

My friend and I were walking in Asakusa and we found a Yukata shop. I immediately bought a full set of Yukata, including belt, ribbon and shoes. It costs about $6500++ yen (approximately USD$60) which I think is reasonable. My friend said that I am very lucky because it is not easy to find a full set of Yukata in a shop.

After I bought it, I realized a big problem. I don’t know how to wear it! There is no changing room in the shop, so I need to wear it in some other place. I asked my friend but then I realize a guy doesn’t know how to wear female clothing. >.< We kept studying and discussing on how to wear Yukata in outside of the female toilet, but it is really difficult! Aiks… It is not easy to be a Japanese female.

Then, a woman appears and saw our funny action. She offers help to me to wear Yukata. She is a very kind and helpful woman! If I wear it by myself, maybe it will take a day but she took only about 10-15 minutes. She is fast. This experience is really fun, hahaha 🙂

Yukata

Wow, I am now a polite Japanese woman!! I have to walk in small steps! 🙂 Not solely because I wanted to pretend to be a Japanese woman, but it is really a bit difficult to walk in big steps with Yukata. I respect Japanese woman.

I asked my friend if I look strange by wearing Yukata walking on the street. My friend said that I do not have to care about others people’s eyes. This makes me touch and I totally agree with the saying, but how many times can I really not care about how others think about me? I wish to live confidently without caring others too much.

My friend and I walked in Nakamise Street. It is very interesting! It has a lot of shops with very ‘Japanese feel’. Some shops are traditional, and some are cute. The traditional Japanese umbrella is beautiful.

We walk through the temple and I tried the fortune-telling again. I did once yesterday, I got a good outcome yesterday but I got a terrible outcome today. It stated that I will have no happy moments and the person that I am waiting will not come. I am a bit sad because it reminds me of the bad fortune-telling result that I got from the Thean Hou Temple a few years ago, and the bad thing was realised. I don’t want to think about it anymore.

I really like the Yukata. I hope I have the chance to wear it again!
