3D2N in Rothenburg

Rothenburg is a small medieval town in Germany. It is also a very beautiful and romantic town. In Germany, many places were destroyed during the war but Rothenburg was surprisingly well-preserved with its medieval old town.

I visited Rothenburg because it was recommended by Rick Steves as the fairy-tale dream town. It is a very touristy place, yet it is so easy to fall in love with it. Please visit as early as you can before it is noticed by more tourists! 🙂

The fairy-tale town that has 2 sides

I felt that there are 2 sides of Rothenburg. One side was a very colourful and vibrant town that made me feel young and fun. There were quite some shops that sell Christmas decorations and toys, and would be a heaven for kids.

The other side of it is a little quaint town that is full of historical buildings. A place so mysterious and beautiful.

I love the building in the photo above the most. It gives me a feeling of a dream. In my opinion, it is a perfect place to take wedding photos.

An amazingly beautiful and quaint café

This was one of the best cafés that I have been in my life. I loved the exquisite decorations and the breakfast was delicious.

Since this is a very popular café, there are a lot of people so you may need to make a reservation. I was alone and flexible on where I sit, so I can get a seat easily without waiting.

By the way, Rothenburg is popular for snowballs (a pastry). I can see it anywhere in the town. But I do not like it because it is too sweet for me.

My trip in a nutshell

The downsides of visiting Rothenburg in the winter is that the museum was not open, and the free walking tour was not available. The good thing was that I could enjoy the less-crowded Rothenburg.

Despite being a tourist destination, there were not many choices for accommodations. Since I was travelling alone, it was cheaper for me to stay at Airbnb as there was not many backpackers or single room available here. Luckily, the Airbnb room was very comfortable.

Personally, I do not mind spending more time here. I could just to sit down and relax in this fairy-tale down.
